eir UK sponsors Public Procurement Conference

The event, sponsored by eir UK and hosted by CBI Northern Ireland in conjunction with the Central Procurement Directorate, attracted more than 150 senior representatives from the private and public sectors. This was an opportunity to hear from government on the latest updates and reforms of procurement policy, including the strands of work taken forward already with the business community.

In a keynote address from Finance Minister, Simon Hamilton MLA, on his vision for making procurement work for Northern Ireland, he said:  “I have said consistently since my appointment as Minister that I am very much in favour of joint working with business and industry if it produces better ways of working and helps us develop the economy. “In this regard I wish to thank the CBI and its membership for the constructive way in which they have engaged with government on these difficult procurement issues.”  He added: “We now have proposals for simplified processes in public procurement: the standardisation of terms and conditions across buyers in the public sector; a continued focus on increasing transparency; and increased opportunities for working in partnership with the private sector.”
